Quarterly Newsletter
Edition 1
We are pleased to introduce the first edition of the Empower Foundation newsletter!
Across our work, we often see how small shifts can open new possibilities. A conversation about preventive health encourages families to seek medical care sooner. A training session introduces a mechanic to tools that improve both his work and his income. A literacy programme helps women step into spaces that once felt unfamiliar.
These moments may seem small on their own, but together they reflect the steady progress communities make when access to knowledge, skills and opportunity becomes possible.
Over the past few months, we have worked closely with communities, partners and participants across different regions. This newsletter brings together a few snapshots from that journey. Behind every update are individuals and families building stronger futures for themselves.
We are grateful to our partners and community members who make this work possible and look forward to sharing more stories of change in the months ahead.
Quarterly Highlights

Over the past few months, we have worked closely with communities, partners and participants across different regions. This newsletter brings together a few snapshots from that journey. Behind every update are individuals and families building stronger futures for themselves.
We are grateful to our partners and community members who make this work possible and look forward to sharing more stories of change in the months ahead.
This quarter we reached:
Programmes were implemented across Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu.
Updates from the Field

In many rural communities, routine health checkups are often delayed because of financial constraints. Through community outreach sessions and service linkages, families are learning why early diagnosis and timely medical care matter, while also receiving guidance on accessing government health services. During the quarter, over 90 health camps were organised, reaching more than 9,000 community members and informal workers.
Alongside field outreach, six online health webinars were organised for mechanics to address common health concerns linked to their work conditions. Sessions covered topics such as healthy dietary habits, skin issues caused by exposure to oil and chemicals, typhoid awareness, arthritis, cancer awareness and back pain. In total, 801 mechanics participated, gaining practical insights on everyday health practices that support long term well-being.
Promoting safer roads and responsible practices

To celebrate Road Safety month in January, road safety awareness sessions were conducted for students and community members across six locations in Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, reaching 465 participants. Through discussions and audio visual tools, participants learned about traffic rules, safe driving behaviour and everyday precautions on the road.
Road safety trainings were also organised for truck drivers and attendants across several locations. During the quarter, 2,803 truck mechanics and attendants were trained, and 290 were recognised during certification ceremonies held in Prayagraj, Etah, Shikohabad and Vaishali after completing their training. These engagements continue to strengthen awareness of safe driving and workplace practices across the sector.
Strengthening women’s confidence and opportunities

Twenty adult literacy participants were recognised during a Women’s Day celebration held at a partner workplace. The visit offered participants a chance to experience a professional workplace environment and interact with employees, making the occasion both inspiring and memorable.
Women from Self Help Groups were also given an opportunity to showcase their products at a corporate office in Mumbai. They displayed laptop sleeves, cloth bags, mobile slings, potli bags, handmade soaps and papad. The stall allowed them to interact with customers, understand preferences and gain valuable market exposure for their enterprises.
Journeys of change

Komal, a 23 year old participant in the General Duty Assistant training programme, joined with a clear goal. She wanted to support her family. With her father unable to work and her mother managing the household, Komal often worried about the financial pressure at home. During a counselling session she learned about the training programme and decided to enrol.
Through the course she developed skills in patient care and home based assistance while gaining confidence through practical learning. After completing the programme, Komal secured a job with a home care service earning ₹18,000 per month. Today she is financially independent and proud to support her parents.
A step towards a secure future for his daughters

Dinesh Kumar, a mechanic from Indore, attended a training session where participants were introduced to financial protection and government welfare schemes. During the session, the team explained how these schemes could help families plan for their children’s education and long term security.
The discussion stayed with Dinesh. With guidance from the programme team, he decided to take an important step for his daughters’ future and enrolled both of them in the Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana, a savings scheme designed to support girls’ education and financial security.
For Dinesh, the session led to a practical step that will help support his daughters’ education in the years ahead.
